Can You Feel The Love Tonight?

Ah, children. They really are life's greatest gifts. Sophia never knew how much joy a child could bring her. Yet, her she was, happily slaving over a hot stove just so she could finish preparing Roselle's birthday feast. Yes, it was finally time for the young girl's first big step into womanhood: her sweet sixteen. Sophia wanted this moment to be perfect. After all, next to her wedding, a sweet sixteen was the most important day of a girl's life. So Sophia set Roselle out with Sam, as she finished preparing for the party. She decided to try her hand at crepes suzette, a dish she viewed as elegant and fit for a beautiful young woman like Roselle. They turned out almost perfect. Now was time for the finishing touch. But Sophia miscalculated her steps and wound up dropping the match, setting the kitchen on fire. Luckily for her, Daniel was smart enough to call the firefighters. Sophia only suffered minor burns.

That didn't put much of a stopper on the party, though. Roselle returned and was treated to a surprise. She was surrounded by all her friends and family as her mother brought her gift by gift. In the end, Roselle had an entire new wardrobe that really seemed to fit her down to earth style. Though still young, Roselle already showed a maternal instinct. She began helping out in the nursery, taking care of Gabriel and Henri. There was talk of getting a part time job, as well but Sophia made her settle for working in the family shop. She wanted Roselle around as much as she could. The girl would be leaving for college soon and visitations would be sparing.

Sophia did ensure that Roselle got into not only college but the private school located in town. The entrance exams were tough and though Sophia knew Roselle was smart, she wanted to have an extra sense of security. So she spruced up the house, fixed a nice turkey dinner and invited the headmaster over. The man was old, very old but easily pleased by the redhaired woman's charms. He accepted both Roselle and Daniel into his school happily, as soon as Sophia accepted his offer of a night on the town.

While Sophia tried to keep up with her various lovers, Samantha started to grow tired of being neglected. "I want a ring," She said to Sophia one night after the children went to bed, "I want commitment. We've been together a long time." Sophia rolled her eyes. Marriage? Again? Why did each person she seduce want to settle down? What was wrong with simply living together, acting as a married couple without having to actually say one was married? Still, Sophia couldn't have Samantha continuously bothering her so she gave in on one condition: Samantha was to take her name.

As to be thought, married life didn't slow Sophia down a bit. Recently, she had begun inviting over a nice young woman named Jenna. The two of them crept around, as Samantha grew distracted by work and the children. But even those distractions couldn't help prevent the inevitable discovery. "What was that for?!" Sophia growled after reciving a swift slap. She had grown tired of this repition. "You act like this is shocking."
"It is! You're my wife! And you cheated on me with that?!" Samantha pointed angrily at Jenna, who cowered in the corner as she dressed herself. Sophia shrugged, watching as Samantha stomped off. "I'm taking everything! This house, the kids...everything!"
"Like hell you are...not if I can help it."

Why use the court system when one could easily become the victor due to strange circumstance? Sophia began construction on a new room of the house and called Samantha into it. Though she was reluctant, Samantha came to the call only to find no one there. No one but flies...

With Samantha gone, Sophia returned to romancing Jenna. The woman was more her speed, not worried about settling down. Still, the idea of living in Casa de Hess was too tempting to resist. Soon, she became the newest resident and began helping out with the daily upkeep.

Roselle wasn't the only one to experience an important birthday. Gabriel, too, grew up into a chubby-faced cutie. He seemed more quiet than his brother, perfering to do things alone and at his own speed. Still, as his other siblings, he took well to the train set. It was almost complete and boy, were they excited.

Of course, Roselle's excitement came from more than one place. As a child, she met and befriended a boy named Amin. He was slightly older than her then but she had a crush on him. Now that she was on the radar, he took more interest into her as well. One thing led to another and before she knew it, Sophia was listening to tales of first kisses and dates. Ah, youth.

Sophia had adventures of her own, as well. After reciving an invitation to the local cuisine club, Sophia began taking part in various contests. She had to admit, she was a bit nervous. Cooking was never one of her strong points. But surprisingly, she won the very first contest. The judges just adored her berry pies. And one of her competors adored the cherry that was Sophia...

At the end of the day, Sophia relaxed in her workshop and began to work on her latest creations. Roselle soon joined her, working on small potholders. For the rest of the evening, they worked in silence and reviled in the unspoken mother-daughter bond they shared.

Fliiiies! That always seems to be the hardest one. I think it's actually broke now. Or at least that's what I had heard.
